14-16 Alternative Provision

Alternative Provision Programme

Progressions Team

The Progressions Team staff work with Sheffield schools in matching learners with alternative provision from within our Alternative Provision Network. The team are able to meet with learners, school staff and parent/carers to ensure that the learners are given information and guidance relating to the provision on offer.

In addition, we work closely with multi-agency workers to support the young people, help monitor attendance and achievements and work to seek solutions to day-to-day problems that may arise. The team also monitor contractual compliance and Quality Assurance of provision across the network.

Important changes for 2018-19

This academic year sees a re-launch of Intensive Re-engagement Programmes aimed at

  • Students struggling with the transition from primary to secondary education
  • KS3 students who have been permanently excluded or who are at risk of exclusion
  • These courses will be for a fixed period of 12 weeks and will be open to Y7 (Secondary transition) and Y8/Y9 students (KS3). The aim must be to re-engage these learners and re-integrate them back into mainstream schooling
  • Depending upon demand from schools, it is possible that we will shortly be tendering for intensive re-engagement programmes aimed at KS4 Prevention of NEETs

The Progressions Team are now based at; Floor 9 North Wing, Moorfoot Building, Sheffield S1 4PL
