Course Description

Work-based qualifications are ideally suited to those already in employment and/or those wishing to enter the industry. Level 1 may also be taken by those with a basic knowledge of horticulture wishing to enter the profession. To achieve the full diploma, individuals must gain 37 credits from a selection of mandatory and optional units including:


  • Maintaining the safety of self and others in the workplace
  • Assisting with the maintenance of grass surfaces
  • Assisting with planting and establishing plants
  • Assisting with the propagation of plants from seed


Each unit is assessed by a combination of practical observations and theory questions. This course takes place at both our Roe Woods site in the North of Sheffield and at our Greenhouse facilities in
Norton. Learners must be prepared to attend either site as required.
